A domain is the address of your website and your email on the internet, e.g. your-company.ch. It consists of a name of your choice (your-company) and the extension (.ch), also called the top-level domain.
Most domains are active within a few minutes to a few hours. For some country extensions, registration can take 24–72 hours because the registry checks the details.
For .ch and .li domains, the holder’s name and address have not been displayed publicly since 2021. With our WHOIS lookup, however, you can see the registrar, status and expiry date of any domain.
.ch domains can be registered by individuals and companies from all over the world. Residence or a registered office in Switzerland is not required.
New registrations have an introductory price. From the second year, the renewal price applies, which we show openly in the table – with no hidden fees.
You need the auth code (transfer code) from your current provider. You enter it when ordering. Transferring .ch and .li domains to us is free of charge.
No. With .ch and .li, a transfer only changes the provider; the term remains unchanged. With .com, the domain is extended by one year when transferred.
We remind you by email before expiry. With automatic renewal enabled, the domain is renewed in good time. After expiry, a .ch domain can be restored for a fee within 40 days.
The registry for .ch and .li is SWITCH, based on the federal Ordinance on Internet Domains. The domains are registered via an accredited registrar partner.
For customers in Switzerland, .ch is the obvious choice, and .li for Liechtenstein. International projects often add .com, and with over 1900 extensions you will also find topic extensions such as .swiss or .online.
